Historic castles were fortified to keep invaders from intruding.  In keeping with that ancient custom, the Beyer Castle moat and drawbridge have well-performed their function in preventing salesmen, Jehovah's Witnesses, and the occasional unwelcome relative from banging on the castle's front door early on Sunday mornings.

As this is a poor man's castle, don't expect a palace.  In keeping with ancient European castles, the bedrooms are cozy.  Each bedroom has it's own bath, and two rooms can be joined to make a family suite.  Below is a list of room rates. All rooms are on a first-come, first-served basis.  That means whoever has the biggest sack of gold coins gets first choice!

Jason's Guard Room

This room was designed for my oldest son, who is now serving in the Marines.  The castle's central keep juts into this room, making it the smallest, yet one of the more charming rooms.  It has a cozy queen-sized bed and a private balcony that guards the drawbridge and the central keep. Guests in this room may be requested by the King to stand guard over the castle by night or to perform other important duties.

Joel the Bard's Room

This room was designed for the Queen's oldest son who has now taken a wife and has gone off to fight his own crusade in life.  This is a larger queen-sized room with its own private balcony overlooking the lily pond, bridge walkway, and scenic views of the surrounding woods and moat.  Travelers can store their belongings in an armoire captured from the Far East.

David the Philosopher's Room

This room was the former residence of the Queen's younger son, who has now gone to join his colleagues in a place of higher learning.  A king-sized bed engulfs the room so you can swim through your dreams nightly.  Richly-appointed furnishings and your own private whirlpool bath will add to your comfort.  This room is usually reserved for visiting royalty, so you will certainly feel like a king or queen when you repose here.

Christopher the Thespian's Room

This room was designed for a young man who will soon go to study in the footsteps of a man called Shakespeare.  It is currently under renovation and we can't tell you anymore, so don't ask!  (But it will be worthy of royalty!)

Room Rates:

(Changeable according to the King's Disposition and Notre Dame home games!)

Rates are per night, minimum two nights' stay.  All reservations must be booked and PAID in full two weeks in advance of arrival.  Cancellations must be received one week in advance.  Late cancellations will forfeit half the paid room rate.

A sumptuous Medieval champagne breakfast will be served, weather permitting, on the deck overlooking the pond each morning. "Did they have corn flakes in the middle ages?"

Please note that this a smoke-free home and we do have three large dogs on the premises.  Because this is a private residence and the King of the castle gets to make his own rules, any children under age 16 brought to the castle will be sold directly to the local wool mill for cheap labor.

In the past, we have accepted the barter method of pigs, mad cows, chickens, virgins, and gold coins.  Recently we have found that plastic seems to work best.  We accept MasterCard, Visa, and American Express.  Since the King was not able to bring back any house servants from the last crusade, he prefers that you book your room by calling his office (574) 288-3351.  One of his cheerful peasants will be happy to assist you.
